TURRIALBA THE VALLEY OF OPPORTUNITY

The people of Turrialba have been quite negative about where they live. "There are no opportunities. We have the most corrupt municipal government and justice system. It's impossible to find work here. The only businesses that survive are using drug money." The general consensus on finding good employment is that you have to know someone, or move to a tourist area. God healed us of negativity and we started dreaming of everything that He can do. Since January 2024, we have been praying for this area declaring that God is greater than all the problems. He will bring spiritual restoration which will in turn fix the other issues. It is with this faith that we returned.

We want to not only preach a message but show by our deeds that God can prosper His hardworking children anywhere on earth. Our God is the owner of all the gold, the silver and the cattle on 10,000 hills, period.!

OBANDO SOLUTIONS

Many of you have asked how Leo is doing. Praise God, Leo is doing great after many trials. The church we planted in Las Nubes keeps him and his family busy. Plus he is beginning new business ventures. Leo got sick last fall with a bacteria from his fishing adventures and had to shut the wood mill down. Marlon has been preparing to relaunch the mill since the middle of October hence the birth of Obando Solutions. We are targeting 4 needs: construction, construction supplies, logistics and lumber. It is very difficult to find contractors with skill, integrity and reliability. In November Marlon and Pablo (elder Pablo"s son) decided to partner up. Pablo has 20 years of experience in construction. Since beginning in January, Marlon and Pablo have done projects close to home as well as other cities, provinces where they have to spend the whole week. To start anything worthwhile involves lots of sacrifice and the pay off is not immediate. The goal is for our family and ministry to become entirely self-sufficient in three years.

We are very happy and know that we are living a miracle Marlon working so hard with his healed back. This business as ministry is much more than a mill. Marlon and Pablo are bringing integrity and a good work ethic to what can be a very dishonest industry. Obando Solutions is opening doors in the community and the country that being farmer missionaries never gave us.

One of the first projects was a special bovine greenhouse. During that job they met a young man who worked with the cows named Winder. He has become a faithful member of our church and for two months has been excited and planning a prayer vigil for us to attend in an indigenous village where his sister lives. We have never been inside before because the door never opened.

It is very interesting that since we began our Sunday night Bible studies that we have had so many Kabecar visitors. It is obvious that God is really leading us into something new. So many young people are coming out and staying out. I am delighted to see this demographic change. We have had this people group on our hearts for awhile but had no idea what we could do. The Lord is bringing them to us. It will be interesting to see if there are more relationships to be made inside on Saturday.
