THE VILLAGE OF CHINA KICHA

It was an honor to be included at an indigenous prayer vigil and birthday party. There were actually 6 people that they were celebrating that had birthdays in May. We had the big responsibility of taking brother Edwin and a birthday cake on the slow 3 ½ hour car ride. I enjoyed so much talking to all the children. The younger ones don ’t know any Spanish and the ones who are in elementary school speak a broken Spanish. I was amazed to find out that they do not have a Sunday school or know any Bible stories. Of course the most important story is Jesus story but I am not even sure how much of that they know. Sister Joanna from our church group told me when I got back that it was pretty normal for pastors to not do much for the children, teenagers, and elderly as far as discipleship. I would love to act out Bible stories for the children if the Holy Spirit opened that door. The Cabecar lands are pretty extensive so I don't know if this lack of children's ministry is true for the entire area. We were happy to make more friends with Edwin{s relatives and guest speakers from Grano de Oro. Pastor Nahum of China Kicha invited us back for July. Marlon later was invited to visit the small church in Grano de Oro.
Thank you Jesus, there were no mishaps, even though some of our team drank river water. One of Edwins cousins, Leslie, loaned us her cute little wooden house which had no furniture or bathroom. There was a tiny community outhouse located far away from the other buildings. Sleeping on the wood floor felt very Samurai and was a once in a lifetime experience. We hope to invest in hammocks with mosquito nets. I have started Cabecar lessons with Joanna, in exchange for teaching her English.

MEN TRAINED FOR WAR
"Courageous men from the Gadites came over to David in the stronghold in the wilderness, men trained for war, who could handle shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and who were swift as gazelles on the mountains." 1 Chron 12:8 AMP
The house church is steadily growing and we continue to feel like a family. Young men who we baptized as teens back in 2011 and served as leaders but later fell away are congregating with us now. Praise the Lord!! The most recent is Cesar! We have never stopped loving Cesar and are so happy he is determined to renew his walk with Jesus. Just as we marveled about Gods power of restoration at our first meeting in January, we are in awe as He is restoring and bringing back our lost sheep. Felicity said to me, “Mom, it doesn't feel like a different church group because so many brothers from the beginning are coming back to us.” The wonderful thing is that this is an adventurous group that always cared about taking the gospel to new places. Marlon preached on the above passage a couple of weeks ago and it was so timely. It feels like the warriors are coming back.
OBANDO SOLUTIONS UPDATE..

Marlon and Pablo have another 3 weeks more to finish the apartment in the infamous Leon XII barrio of San Jose. It has been uneventful until this weekend. A man who lives on the street they are working on was shot in the chest 13 times by hitmen for fighting with a woman. The boss that controls the neighborhood keeps crime down by having offenders shot. However, this time he supposedly didn't know about the hit. So, we are praying that there not be some type of territory dispute this week. Their host, “Chana,” is a man who spent most of his adult life in prison and sure is giving them an education about the capitol among other things.
We are planning on beginning the sawmill phase of our business soon. It has been hard to have Marlon only home on weekends for almost 3 months. Not just because we miss him but our little house church is ready to bring the Thursday night prayer meetings back.
Felicity and I are starting to get used to the long uphill walk to our house from Tuis. We also absolutely love riding the bus everywhere. It is not fast and there are only so many errands you can do in a day but Jesus is good to give us this mother daughter adventure time.
